The Basics

TactiCoolGear.com is a tactical gear recommendation site. We do not sell or rent your personal information. We make limited information available to service providers only as needed to host, secure, analyze, and operate the site—they are identified below and process it under their own terms. What we store depends on the optional features you choose. If you join updates or request a results email, we process your email for that. If you enable cross-device sync, we store your email, birth year, sex, and results so we can return them across devices (a sync-only email is not added to the updates list). We use affiliate links to earn commissions when you purchase recommended gear. No data harvesting and no ad networks. To improve the site we run common, aggregated and/or pseudonymous web analytics—Ahrefs Web Analytics, Google Analytics 4, and Microsoft Clarity, the same tools most sites use. Information We Collect

Automatically Collected Data

When you visit TactiCoolGear.com, we automatically collect standard web analytics:

  • Page views - Which pages you visit
  • Referral source - How you found us
  • Device type - Desktop, mobile, or tablet
  • Geographic location - Country/region level only (not precise location)
  • Browser type - Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.

We use this to understand what's useful and improve the site. It's collected by common, aggregated and/or pseudonymous web analytics (Ahrefs Web Analytics, Google Analytics 4, and Microsoft Clarity)—no names, and Clarity masks on-screen text by default—so it shows how the site is used, not who you are.

Voluntarily Provided Information

The personal information we store is what you choose to hand us—an email address in the three opt-in cases under Email & Account Data below, plus, only if you turn on cross-device sync, the test profile and results tied to it. Our "Disagree?" feature opens a pre-filled email in your own mail app; nothing is stored on our servers unless you actually send it to us.

What We DON'T Collect

  • No email addresses unless you opt in (see Email & Account Data below)
  • No passwords, though cross-device sync creates a lightweight email-keyed record
  • No payment information (purchases happen on retailer sites)
  • No social media tracking pixels
  • No precise geolocation data

Email & Account Data

We collect an email address in exactly three situations, all opt-in. We never sell or rent any of them, and we don't share them except with the service providers (e.g. Supabase, Resend) needed to deliver these features. There are no required accounts.

  • Updates list: If you opt in through an email box (e.g. "notify me about new tests or gear updates"), we store your address in our database and send a welcome message plus occasional updates. Unsubscribe anytime.
  • Cross-device score sync (optional): On the physical test, you can choose to enter an email to save and sync your own scores across devices. We store that email along with your test profile (birth year, sex) and your results, keyed to your email. This is used only to sync your data back to you—it is never added to the updates list and never marketed to.
  • "Email me my results" (one-off): You can have a copy of your own results sent to you. That's a single transactional email; we don't add you to any list.

Retention: We keep this data until you ask us to remove it.

How to opt out: Use the unsubscribe link in any email we send to opt out instantly, or email us at contact@tacticoolgear.com to be removed from the list or to delete your synced scores.

How We Use Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. Affiliate Links & Tracking

TactiCoolGear.com participates in affiliate programs including:

  • eBay Partner Network (via AuctionMapper, our sister site)

What this means:

When you click our product links, the retailer (Amazon, eBay, etc.) receives a tracking cookie that identifies your visit came from TactiCoolGear.com. If you make a purchase, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This tracking is managed by the retailer, not us. Review their privacy policies for details:

Cookies

We use minimal cookies for basic site functionality:

  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity, e.g. _ga, _clck, _clsk) - Help us see how the site is used so we can improve it. Common, aggregated and/or pseudonymous analytics—not advertising.
  • Preference cookies - Remember your settings (if applicable)

We don't run advertising on this site or set our own ad-targeting cookies—these are the standard, aggregated and/or pseudonymous analytics tools most sites use to improve the experience. Retailer sites (Amazon, eBay) may set their own cookies when you click our affiliate links—those are managed by them.

Third-Party Services

We use the following services to operate TactiCoolGear.com:

  • Vercel - Website hosting and performance
  • Supabase - Database and storage (holds opt-in emails and synced scores)
  • Resend - Sends our emails (updates, results, sync confirmations)
  • Sentry - Error monitoring to catch and fix bugs
  • Google Fonts - Typography (Oswald, Inter)
  • Google Analytics 4 - Aggregated and/or pseudonymous traffic and usage analytics to help us improve the site
  • Microsoft Clarity - Aggregated and/or pseudonymous analytics (heatmaps and pseudonymous recordings of how visitors use our pages, with text masked) to help us improve the site; processed by Microsoft under its own privacy statement
  • Ahrefs Web Analytics - Privacy-focused, cookieless, aggregated and/or pseudonymous traffic analytics to help us improve the site

These services may collect technical data (IP addresses, browser info) to provide their services. Review their privacy policies for details.

Data Security

We collect very little personal information, so the risk is small. Our site uses HTTPS encryption for all connections, and any email addresses or synced scores you provide are stored with our database provider (Supabase) and accessed only to run the features described above.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access - Request any data we hold about you (typically just an opt-in email and, if you used it, your synced scores)
  • Deletion - Request deletion of your email and any synced scores
  • Opt-out - Use the unsubscribe link in our emails, or block cookies/analytics in your browser settings

We honor these requests by email at contact@tacticoolgear.com (self-serve access and deletion are rolling out).

Children's Privacy

TactiCoolGear.com is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has submitted data to us, contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Major changes will be announced on our homepage.
